"Hänschen Klein" is a song for Kids, it's about a little boy who's moving out in order to explore the world. His Mom is crying for him and finally, he comes back home because of the love to his mother. Sounds not so bad, right? You have to know, that it is written in the time of Biedermeier.
I tried to translate it to today, the year 2011, in a large town. Hänschen is annoyed by his mom, he wants to break out. But 'cause he was a bird in a gilded cage, he can't handle the world outside...and fails. I'm sure this story isn't outdated. I'm sure, that there are still enough parents, who won't see their children become adult.
